“Stadium Hole II”
06.09.2014
I was not able to be present at the Omega European Masters 2013. This year, I finally had the chance to see with my own eyes the improvements on the renowned hole of the Severiano Ballesteros course. It is a complete success. Of course I am talking about hole no.13. The fact that visitors can now sit on green-coloured stands, as if you were in an amphitheatre, and have an amazing view of the green itself is brilliant. You really want to just hang around and relax. Before and after, the Severiano Ballesteros’ course had one weak point. Now this has been turned into an advantage. The building of the pond contributes to making hole no.13 the most attractive part of the course.
TPC Scottsdale in Arizona, USA, has the “Stadium Hole I”, Switzerland has now the “Stadium Hole II”. The only thing missing is the applause of the fans to add to the atmosphere. This is not yet in the European mentality. But during the Phoenix Open, the reaction is fantastic.
These last couple of years, Crans-Montana’s golf course has gained in attractiveness and character. Yet, it should still try to keep its traditional side. A balance that is difficult to maintain at this level.
