Golf, mountains and good practices: our tournament is going green 🌱

A perfect swing, a flawless green… and a mountain worth protecting. Organising a world-class tournament in the heart of the Valais Alps also comes with real responsibility. The OMEGA European Masters isn't just about great golf: since 2019, the tournament has been working with bloomUp and the GEO Foundation to become increasingly sustainable. The result: GEO certification achieved in 2022, a place within Switzerland Tourism's Swisstainable programme, and a signature on the IUCN's Sports for Nature initiative. In 2026, the focus is on GEO re-certification.

So what does that actually look like?

Measure, reduce, offset. 100% of direct emissions (Scope 1 and 2) and a share of indirect emissions (Scope 3) are funded through the Swiss Olympic Climate Fund. On the ground, a partnership with the Golf Club de Crans-sur-Sierre also helps protect and revegetate the site because a golf course is an ecosystem in its own right.

Reduce, reuse, recycle: a simple formula, put into practice. Reused infrastructure, single-use plastics on the decline, optimised sorting, and teams trained to keep improving year after year.

Local, seasonal produce, vegetarian options, less food waste, fewer individual packagings: catering partners are playing their part for meals that are as responsible as they are enjoyable.

Renewable electricity, consumption tracking, water refill points for players, staff and spectators. A small but notable change for 2026: the DP World Tour's broadcast production is now connected directly to the local power grid, reducing the energy footprint of the tournament's TV coverage.

Public transport, cycling, carpooling, free shuttles at resort level: everything is designed so that getting to the tournament doesn't have to mean driving. A brand-new mobility brochure also brings all the practical information together in one place.

Free entry for under-18s, facilities adapted for people with reduced mobility, and partnerships with local schools and organisations. Spectators can get involved too, through a voluntary donation to the Swiss Olympic Climate Fund when purchasing tickets, or by returning their cup deposit.
