Eleven years after his sole appearance, Patrick Reed returns to Crans-Montana as Race to Dubai leader

Some comebacks are hard to ignore. Patrick Reed's is one of them. Eleven years after his sole appearance at the OMEGA European Masters in 2015, the American will once again take to the fairways of Crans-sur-Sierre, from 3 to 6 September and he arrives in a form that speaks for itself: he currently sits atop the Race to Dubai standings.

Turning professional at just 20 years old in 2011, Reed quickly established himself as one of the biggest names in American golf. A nine-time PGA Tour winner, his record includes the prestigious Masters Tournament, won in 2018, as well as two World Golf Championships. His reputation as a fierce competitor, forged in particular through his standout Ryder Cup performances for Team USA, earned him a nickname that has stuck ever since: "Captain America."

It was in that same competitive spirit that he made his only appearance at the OMEGA European Masters back in 2015, finishing in a strong 16th place. He hasn't returned to Crans-Montana since — until now, arriving with a richer record and experience gained across the world's biggest tours.

That experience has made him one of golf's most seasoned competitors today. Back on the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour following a spell on the LIV Golf circuit, Reed wasted no time finding his form: winner of the Dubai Desert Classic and then the Qatar Masters, he has put together a blistering start to the season that now has him leading the Race to Dubai.
