Anton Moström secures place at the OMEGA European Masters by winning the Virtual Qualifier
01.09.2026
From the simulator to the real championship course, there was just one step to take. Anton Moström successfully made it. Following Tuesday morning’s Virtual Qualifier by Trackman final, held on the Severiano Ballesteros Course at Golf-Club Crans-sur-Sierre, the Swedish player came out on top with a score of -3, earning a wild card to compete in the 2026 OMEGA European Masters.
Now in its fourth edition, the Virtual Qualifier offers a unique opportunity in the world of golf: players from around the globe, both professionals and elite amateurs, can compete virtually on the Crans-Montana course before earning the chance to play on the real course.
Held in collaboration with Trackman, the qualifying stage took place from 1 to 31 March on the virtual version of the Severiano Ballesteros Course. Players could enter the competition from any Trackman simulator around the world, with qualification decided over 18 holes of stroke play.
At the end of this first stage, the three players with the lowest scores earned their places in the final in Crans-Montana.
This year’s three finalists were all from Sweden: Anton Nilson, Alfred Hilmersson and Anton Moström.
At 32, Anton Nilson turned professional in 2013. A full-time teacher at a school, he mainly competes in indoor events during the winter months. Having already reached last year’s final, he returned to the Severiano Ballesteros Course with the ambition of taking the final step this time around.
At 23, Alfred Hilmersson is playing his second full season as a professional. A member of Kårsta Golfklubb, he currently competes on the Nordic Golf League as well as the Next Golf Tour.
The third finalist, 31-year-old Anton Moström, is from Örebro. He began playing competitive golf at the age of 17 and now competes on the Nordic Golf League, with the ambition of continuing his progress towards the highest levels of professional golf.
After first discovering the Crans-Montana course in its virtual form, the three finalists now had to deal with the realities of the Severiano Ballesteros Course: its elevation changes, slopes, greens and the playing conditions unique to the Valais course.
In the final, Anton Moström came out on top with a score of -3, finishing ahead of Anton Nilsson (+4) and Alfred Hilmersson (+6). With this victory, the Swede earns a wild card for the OMEGA European Masters 2026 and will tee it up in the tournament from Thursday.
Thanks to this victory, Anton Moström joins the field for the OMEGA European Masters 2026. From 3 to 6 September, he will have the opportunity to take on the tournament’s top players on the Severiano Ballesteros Course, just a few days after securing his qualification in the Virtual Qualifier by Trackman final.
Once again, the Virtual Qualifier has achieved its goal: turning a virtual golfing experience into a genuine opportunity to compete on the DP World Tour stage.
Congratulations to Anton Moström, and see you on Thursday on the Severiano Ballesteros Course for the next chapter of this exciting journey!
