Thriston Lawrence crowned King of the Mountains again
31.08.2025
South African Thriston Lawrence made history once more in Crans-Montana, claiming his second Omega European Masters title, three years after his first.
Things looked bleak after three opening bogeys, but with calm and courage Lawrence turned it around thanks to a crucial eagle on the 6th hole, followed by five birdies in the next eight holes. At -22 overall, he secured a two-shot victory and his fifth DP World Tour title.

Matt Wallace, Rasmus Højgaard and Sami Välimäki shared second place at -20, while Matt Fitzpatrick finished 5th at -19.

An emotional Lawrence admitted it had been a nerve-racking day:
“Winning is never easy. I’m so happy and proud of the way I fought today.”
Two Swiss players particularly stood out this week in Crans-Montana.
Ronan Kleu achieved his best result on the Haut-Plateau course, finishing in a fine 24th place with a total score of -11. For him, this performance was above all about unforgettable memories: “The atmosphere and the support from the crowd were incredible, it was an unforgettable experience.”
Meanwhile, Joel Girrbach delivered an exceptional week. Despite a start disrupted by weather delays, the St. Gallen native fought hard and made the most of a prestigious draw, playing alongside Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Danny Willett and Matt Fitzpatrick. Carried by the impressive support of the crowd – “it felt almost like being in a big football stadium” – he finished in a remarkable 7th place. This marks his third top-10 finish on the DP World Tour, a result that represents a decisive step towards retaining his tour card for next season and one that further boosts his confidence for the weeks ahead.
