Matt Wallace: defending his title, reliving the emotions, and aiming higher
28.08.2025
Defending champion of the OMEGA European Masters, Matt Wallace returns to Crans-Montana with a mix of enthusiasm, pride, and respect for the tournament’s history. Seeing his name now engraved alongside the legends in the Rue du Prado provides extra motivation. And this week will be a special one for the Englishman: for the very first time in his career, he is set to defend a title on the DP World Tour.
“It’s the first time I come back to defend a tournament I won the year before… it’s really exciting.”
From the moment he arrived, Wallace was taken back to the emotions of his 2024 triumph. Returning to the course during the UBS Gold Pro-Am, under brilliant sunshine, brought back some precious memories.
“I feel proud. It’s great to be back. The weather on Wednesday morning was fantastic, and it was really nice to think back to some of the shots from last year while I was out on the course.”

The Briton has never hidden his admiration for the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club, a course that suits him perfectly and which he ranks among the very best of the season.
“Visually, it’s probably the most beautiful golf course we play all year.”
And true to his jovial character, Wallace has even promised a unique celebration should he achieve back-to-back victories:
“If I win, I’ll wear my red jacket and go wakesurfing at La Plage de l’Etang Long on Sunday!”
