Swedish Sebastian Söderberg and British Matt Wallace will also be part of the competition!
25.07.2024
In less than six weeks, the 77th edition of the Omega European Masters will begin, and the organizers are delighted to confirm the presence of the 2019 winner, Sebastian Söderberg, as well as Matt Wallace, who secured a notable second place in 2022! Both players have fond memories of the Severiano Ballesteros course and will undoubtedly be serious contenders for the final victory.
Sebastian Söderberg is currently experiencing the best year of his professional career. Since his first and only victory in Crans-Montana five years ago, the 33-year-old golfer has continually progressed.
In 2024, the consistency of his game has earned him three second places: in April at the SIPS Handa Championship in Japan, in May at the China Open, and more recently, in early June, on his home turf in Sweden at the Scandinavian Mixed. Unfortunately, he faltered under pressure on the final day while on track for victory. Thanks to his excellent results, he now holds the fourth place in the 2024 European rankings.
As for Matt Wallace, he has found success on both the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour. He first made his mark at the top by winning the Portugal Open in May 2017. The year 2018 was a breakthrough year for him, with three victories on the DP World Tour: first at the Indian Open in March, then three months later at the International Open in Germany, and finally at the Made in Denmark tournament. In 2019, the 34-year-old continued his momentum by finishing third in the US PGA Championship, which earned him his card on the American Tour. He claimed his first victory there in March 2023 at the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic. In 2024, his best result so far is a fourth place at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson in Texas last May.
He returns for his sixth participation in the Omega European Masters this summer, having revealed in 2019 that he had visited the course in winter as a child to ski. In winter, this course transforms into beginner ski slopes. From skiing to golf, it’s just a step!
With Matthew Fitzpatrick and the Højgaard twins, the players lineup is beginning to shape up. Further announcements will follow soon.
