This is the perfect setting to experience one’s passion with incredible intensity. This incomparable diversity delights sports enthusiasts in general and golfers in particular. Despite its relatively modest size, Crans-Montana is only one hour away from the other seven golf courses in a region that has become Switzerland’s ultimate golf destination. Cultural partners
Established in 2018, Fondation Opale, in Lens/Crans-Montana, is the only contemporary art centre dedicated to the promotion of Aboriginal art in Europe. Since the beginning, mankind has attempted to express its place in the universe through the representation of art. Such vision, still of great concern in art by indigenous peoples and especially Aboriginal people from Australia, is central to Fondation Opale. The foundation’s exhibitions bring together international art and contemporary Aboriginal art. Every exhibition is accompanied by a curated events programme fostering access to culture for all.
Until March 2020, Fondation Opale offers insights into the evolution of contemporary Aboriginal art with the exhibition Before Time Began. Through paintings on canvas and bark, sculptures and a monumental installation of 1'500 spears, this exhibition brings visitors from remote areas of Australia at the early 1970s to Arnhem Land and Kimberley until the APY Lands’ most recent works. The installation Berg Elle by Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist, integrated in the exhibition, echoes the artworks from the great Initiates.
Open from Wednesday to Sunday like the art gallery, the Restaurant L’Opale and its terrace providing breathtaking views of the Valais panorama, will complete your experience.
