Will a junior player be able to beat the pros?

On Saturday, junior players will be highlighted on the Severiano Ballesteros course. Twenty-two members of the new Swiss generation will be given the opportunity to measure themselves against professionals, by participating in a competition called «Beat the Pro». It will take place on hole number 8, a par 3 of 160 meters, at the same time as the Omega European Masters.

The idea is the following: a junior player will join each of the twenty-two last games of the third round of the competition. The pros will play their stroke first and the youngster will have to try and beat them on this first one. The flight will join the green to see who has arrived closest to the flag. The juniors will stop there and the pros will carry on with the tournament. «It’s a fabulous challenge for these youngsters. They will have to manage the pressure of such an event.», comments Corinne Manrau, in charge of Young Talents for Swiss Golf. This original competition is brought to you by Supporting Golf, an association composed of Swiss Golf, the ASGI and Gold Card Migros.  «We have selected twenty-two U14 and four players aged U15 and U16. We have also taken into consideration the swiss order of merit of their category», pursues Corinne Manrau.

This is the second time, after 2019, that this competition is organized in the context of the Omega European Masters.
