Sergio Garcia in Crans-Montana!
Number 6 in the world, Sergio Garcia confirms he will be playing at the Omega European Masters 2015!
Winner at the Crans-Montana course in 2005, the 35 year old Spanish golfer had a remarkable year in 2014. He claimed victory at the Qatar Masters and regularly featured high up on the leaderboard in all the tournaments he competed in. Sergio came very close to a first sacred Grand Slam win, finishing just 2 shots behind Rory McIlroy at the 143rd British Open which took place on the Royal Liverpool course.
With 11 victories to his name on the European Tour and 8 on the US PGA Tour, he is regarded among the best and hopes to maintain his standing again this year. Having started his professional career in 1999, he has remained in the Top 10 world rankings for more than 250 weeks.
Sergio is a fantastic matchplay golfer and has delivered some extraordinary statistics in the Ryder Cup. He has been ever-present in the European team since 1999, played 32 matches recording 18 wins, 9 defeats and 5 draws!
As a member of the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club, the Spaniard will compete in the Omega European Masters for the 4th time with the last visit dating back to 2006 when he finished 4th.
The confirmation that one of the best golfers in the world will play in 2015 reinforces the decision by the Organizing Committee of the Omega European Masters to move the tournament to July, which is a more favourable period for the top players. More great news should arrive soon to the delight of all the amateur golfers of our country.
