Omega – The pleasure to meet eachother again
The pleasure to meet eachother again
As the competition is coming to an end, Raynald Aeschlimann, president and CEO of Omega has, above all, spoken about emotions and the pleasure of meeting once again after a cancelled 2020 edition. «Being here in Crans-Montana is like a valve has been opened. We have welcomed a lot of customers from abroad: from Russia, Portugal, Spain, etc. The smiles on their faces prove that everybody is delighted and happy to come together at an event like the Omega European Masters.»
The fact that a sanitary bubble was established, in which spectators and players could go about their day freely, without restrictions, allowed everyone to live like everything was normal during a few days. «Golfers also had the need to play in front of an audience again. This is evidenced by James Morrison's superb first day result of -10. The crowd galvanized him», pursues Raynald Aeschlimann, who is also pleased with the smooth operation of the controls at the various entrances. «People have understood very well why we were proceeding in this manner.»
On the way paved by Gaston Barras
The Omega European Masters received two terrific news before the start of the event: their title sponsor and the European Tour have extended their contract until 2027. «It was important to show that we had a common destiny, that we were there, even in the most difficult moments. But for me, it is impossible to mention the future without speaking about Gaston Barras. Apart from being the founder of the tournament, he managed it until the end of his life. He was a visionary. He had the ability to show us the way. While in the mountains, it’s absolutely vital to have a good guide», concludes Raynald Aeschlimann.
