McIlroy, Garcia and Fleetwood return for the 2019 Omega European Masters
This is an incredible opportunity for the Crans-Montana golf tournament! Yves Mittaz, Director of the Omega European Masters and Raynald Aeschlimann, President & CEO of OMEGA, are pleased to announce the presence of three world golf stars; Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Tommy Fleetwood for the Omega European Masters 2019.
Rory McIlroy (NIR, 29), who dominated the world ranking for 95 weeks, has already stepped on the podium of the Omega European Masters twice in his three appearances in 2008, 2009 and 2011. The four-time champion of major tournaments (US Open 2011, US PGA Championship 2012, The Open Championship 2014, US PGA Championship 2014) has also participated in four Ryder Cups and has won the European Tour Order of Merit three times.
Sergio Garcia (ESP, 38) is a member of the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club and former winner of the Omega European Masters, which he won in 2005 and has always shown his commitment to this tournament. A true Ryder Cup star (22.5 points in 8 appearances), Sergio Garcia has won no less than 31 professional tournaments including the Masters Tournament in 2017. He was also in the Top 10 for more than 400 weeks during his career.
Tommy Fleetwood (ENG, 27) launched his career by winning the Challenge Tour in 2011, but it was in 2017 that he improved his playing by winning the Race to Dubai 2017. Strong results on the PGA Tour and a second place at the US Open 2018, equalizing the lowest single-round score record in the history of the US Open, earned him a first nomination to compete in the Ryder Cup in 2018.
These three ambassadors of the Swiss watch brand OMEGA are taking advantage of a change in the American tour schedule (FedEx will end on August 25), to go back to the Crans-Montana circuit and participate in the Omega European Masters. The unique atmosphere and panorama of this tournament, as well as the support of the main sponsor OMEGA, convinced these three players to embark on the race for the famous "Red Jacket".
We look forward to seeing you from 29 August to 1 September 2019 for this competition, which already promises to be sensational.
