Luca Galliano’s performance stays honorable
As the only one out of the six Swiss starters, Luca Galliano has reached the final round of the Omega European Masters in Crans-Montana. His performance stayed honourable also in the third round.
For a while it looked like the 31-year-old resident of Como would finish the third round on the par-70 course with formidable 68 shots, in spite of the pouring rain, and climb up the ranking list in a big way. But a birdie that was noted for him at the 15th hole turned out to be an input data error and a double bogey (seven instead of four shots) instead. But also with a 71-shot-round, he was able to stand his ground in the top-class field of 77 professionals. Before the fog interrupted the play, he was equal with the English stars Lee Westwood and Luka Donald, former number one of the World Ranking List. All three are three shots behind the famous Miguel Angel Jimenez.
Luca Galliano had only qualified for the Omega European Masters for the second time. Last year, his performance was only good enough for rank 149. He contends on the circuits of the second and third category for the largest part of his season. He played seven tournaments on the Challenger Tour and ten in the German Pro Golf Tour, where he set three Top-10 results.
