A great coming together of professionals and amateurs

Gold ProAm, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Crédit Suisse

The host of the tournament Thomas Gottstein played together with Danny Willett. A great moment of friendship on a top course.

The Credit Suisse Gold Pro-Am took place in excellent conditions.  This competition, carried out in teams, allowed 156 amateur players and 52 professionals to play on the 18 hole Severiano Ballesteros course, before the beginning of the OMEGA European Masters.  It should be highlighted that the course was in excellent condition. «The greens were very fast and the course was overall complicated to play on», underscores Thomas Gottstein, CEO of Swiss Universal Bank of Credit Suisse. Amongst the best amateur players of the country in the 1980s, he participated in the Swiss Open in 1986. «At the age of 15, in 1979, I was able to play on a championship course.  I finished third in the Swiss junior Championships.  I also like the course in Plan-Bramois», adds Thomas Gottstein, partner of the day with Danny Willett, titleholder of the OMEGA European Masters. «Contrary to my game, he played well.  He was very nice, very professional and gave us excellent advice.» Amongst the renowned players also present at the start of this Credit Suisse Gold Pro-Am, Adolf Ogi could confirm that his popularity level remains excellent.  He began playing whilst listening to «Dölfi, Dölfi, Dölfi» from spectators. The previous President of the Confederation was in the flight of the French professional Grégory Bourdy, accompanied by Bruno Marazzi and Jacky Gillmann. «It was fantastic to be able to participate in such a Pro-Am. After having spent a marvellous weekend as a spectator at the Swiss Federal wrestling Festival, here, in Crans-Montana I am an actor.  A golf player who wrestles…it is really satisfying to be able to play golf in such exceptional surroundings», concludes Adolf Ogi.
