Covid management – Ten check points on ten strategic locations
Ten check points on ten strategic locations
For the organizers and the partners of the Omega European Masters, it was unthinkable for the tournament to take place without spectators. The good news arrived during the month of March, for it was at this moment that the federal Council announced that public events with crowds of more than 10'000 spectators were going to be allowed outdoors during the summer. From then on, a Covid plan has been elaborated in collaboration with the Organisation cantonale Valaisanne des secours (OCVS) et the Valais state Council.
Hence, the course has been completely closed down with nets. The bubble, which has been generated is effective from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Only vaccinated, immune or tested people can enter it. «The biggest challenge has been to figure out how to control the access. Therefore, we set-up huts and hired some additional personal to check the visitor’s documents and to distribute bracelets to them», explains Christophe Balet, responsible for the Covid-management. Four people on the Covid-information stand, 16 members of the staff and 10 of the civil protection have completed the crew. Ten huts have been set up on strategic locations. «We have opened one right at the exit of the Cry d’Er parking lot. Three others are located on Prado street, thus avoiding large gatherings of people at the same spot.» And it works! Spectators arrive with their documents ready and more than 95% of them are very understanding of the situation. «Some people tell me that we are well prepared for 2022. I sure hope that my current position won’t exist anymore until then», concludes Christophe Balet.
