A long wait coming to an end
The first round of the Omega European Masters will start on Thursday at 7:40 am.
Over the past year and the announcement of the participation in the Omega European Masters 2019 of Rory Mcllroy, Sergio Garcia and Tommy Fleetwood, the excitement has not stopped increasing.
Like Tommy Fleetwood, the players were also eager to be back in the Haut-Plateau. "I missed this appointment last year, so I was looking forward to coming back to this beautiful location. We could talk about this place all week..." The Englishman, currently No. 4 in Europe, has the Race to Dubai in mind. He arrived in Crans-Montana with a different status than the past years. "As a result, my week has been hectic. I hope it will continue on the course." In his three appearances at Crans-Montana, he placed in the top 20 each time, with a 5th place in 2014.
Another player who particularly likes the Haut-Plateau is the double defending champion, Matthew Fitzpatrick. This year, he will meet Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia, who have returned from the United States. The two megastars attract almost all the attention. "The level will be higher, but I will concentrate on my game without overthinking about the others. We'll see on Sunday." When asking him about a third victory in a row, he couldn't help but smile. "Winning twice in a row was already incredible, so a third time..." Fitzpatrick loves the Severiano Ballesteros course, which he knows perfectly. For this 2019 edition, however, he is wary of the four holes that have been modified, namely 12, 14, 15 and 16.
