MAIN SPONSORS

Credit Suisse has been the main sponsor of the Omega European Masters in Crans-Montana since 1987. Thanks to its strong line-up and a unique atmosphere on the Severiano Ballesteros course, which must rank as the most beautiful place to play golf in the Alps, Crans-Montana is regarded as Switzerland's number-one golf tournament. Top players such as Colin Montgomerie, Lee Westwood, Nick Faldo, and Sergio Garcia have on many occasions captivated the 50,000 or so enthusiastic golf spectators with their wonderful shots made against the backdrop of the Valais Alps.

Credit Suisse has been supporting golf in Switzerland for over 20 years. The bank became main sponsor of the Swiss Golf Foundation (SGF) in 1992 and has been a partner of the Swiss Golf Association (ASG) since 1999. It has sponsored the Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open since 1996 and, in addition to the Zurich Open, also supports a variety of guest Pro-Am tournaments in both Switzerland and abroad. Since 2005, Credit Suisse has also been a partner of the Swiss PGA, the umbrella organization of all golf professionals in Switzerland.

Credit Suisse attaches great importance to supporting golfers making the transition from amateur to professional status. This is why the bank is title sponsor of the Credit Suisse Challenge, which is held at the Wylihof Golf Club near Solothurn. Furthermore, one-third of the sponsorship money from Credit Suisse is earmarked for the ASG's program to promote young talent. In addition, Credit Suisse has also supported the "Schweizerisches Sportgymnasium" (Swiss Sports Academy) in Davos, and its golf department, since 1997.

Golf in Valais

An enchanting land of contrasts situated in the heart of the Alps that is blessed with an exceptionally mild climate and a higher than average percentage of sunshine. Impressive summits that cast a spell on mountaineers and fulfil the dreams of nature lovers arise from this valley created by the Rhone. Destined to become a “Holiday Kingdom”, Valais has the good fortune to find itself comfortably astride the frontier between sun and ice, North and South.

Well-being is a tradition in Valais: since Roman times “Valaisan water” has been synonymous with “health-giving water”. Valais’ thermal spas are equipped with the most up-to-date facilities and offer a wide range of well-being and health treatments. Their effects are even more potent thanks to the advantages offered by nature and the landscape. Scope for movement, a host of parallel activities and the mild climate all contribute towards making the feeling of well-being and relaxation last even longer, summer and winter alike.

As for golf, it is not just a form of relaxation and calm concentration but also offers a real sporting challenge. There are numerous possibilities to enjoy this sport above the Rhone Valley: on the Crans-Montana high plateau, at Riederalp – a mere stone’s throw from the Aletsch Glacier, in the fashionable sports resort of Verbier, at the foot of the majestic Matterhorn in Zermatt as well as at Obergesteln in the upper Conches Valley. If, however, you prefer to play in the plain there are courses near such lively towns such as Sierre, Sion and Loèche.

“Golf and well-being” activities complement each other to perfection as both offer a similar ratio of relaxation and stimulation. Welcome to Valais!
