EDITION 2012

The Omega European Masters is one of the most prestigious golf competitions played on European soil. Located at Crans-Montana in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club is indisputably the most spectacular course on the European Tour schedule. This internationally-renowned golf competition, played on the same course for the 65th time this year, has seen players such as Spain’s Severiano Ballesteros, José Maria Olazabal and Sergio Garcia, Scotland’s Colin Montgomerie, South Africa’s Ernie Els and Britain’s Lee Westwood, currently the world’s no. 2, win the coveted trophy.

In 2010, Spain’s Miguel Angel Jiménez added his name to this prestigious list. On his 22nd attempt, having come second twice, he finally achieved his heart’s desire and took home this tournament’s trophy. Since 2009, the Omega European Masters, which offers prize money of EUR 2 million, has been the first tournament to have been jointly sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the European Tour, giving the 30 best Asian players the opportunity to challenge their European counterparts.

The 2011 event enjoyed a spectacular success thanks to a great line-up of players (McIlroy, Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer, etc.). The winner of the tournament, Thomas Björn, put on an amazing show for spectators and finished in style.
